This is the 51st Anniversary of the formation of Ye Ole Gang. In 1974 a backyard BBQ gathering of former Dons who valued camaraderie and the traditions of Dons athletics led to the creation of Ye Ole Gang. During more than five decades, the organization has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support the Dons and many aspects of SBHS Athletics. This is all possible thanks to the support of so many SBHS alum, local businesses and countless supporters.

Ye Ole Gang is proud to lead a fundraising effort to upgrade the Santa Barbara High School weight room — a critical training space used by every SBHS athletic program. This campaign brings together alumni, parents, and local businesses to invest in the health, safety, and development of SBHS student-athletes.

Ye Ole Gang
From its humble beginnings at a backyard barbecue attended by five committed Dons, Ye Ole Gang” has grown to hundreds of participants annually. The vision of founder Sal Padilla was to establish and perpetuate Ye Ole Gang in the spirit of camaraderie, good will, and loving fellowship. Even to the day of his passing in 2004, that spirit drove, and still drives, his beloved ‘Gang.’
A powerful school athletic heritage is the energy that drives YOG. It is fueled by the sensational athletic triumphs over more than ten decades, creating a legacy of great expectations. Ye Ole Gang provides a unique opportunity for players, coaches, fans and families to recapture the memories of their youth, rekindle friendships, make new friends, and to honor past and present Dons.
It is our mission to maintain and perpetuate this greatest of all traditions. Sal Padilla said it best: ‘It’s about camaraderie – brothers forever’. Those emotions persevere and live in the spirit and hearts of our school’s beloved Ye Ole Gang.
