For decades, Santa Barbara High has produced dozens and dozens of outstanding athletes who have represented the Dons in both success, sportsmanship and tradition. From football to basketball from baseball to track, SBHS has also sent an incredible number of athletes on to the professional ranks as well as on to representing our nation in the Olympics. Few high schools have enjoyed an equal athletics success.

It is fitting that an athletics department so rich in history, tradition and success features a Hall of Fame to honor outstanding achievement.

Each year we honor the next Class into the official SBHS Athletics Dons Hall of Fame, presented by the Ye Ole Gang, with a special induction ceremony.

Established in 1974 by a group of former Dons celebrating everything special that is SBHS athletics, the Ye Ole Gang had honored each year Dons worthy of Hall of Fame status. Now, the official SBHS Dons Athletics Hall of Fame continues the tradition in an official way.

Every fall the SBHS Dons Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place during an elegant dinner and reception. Tickets and information at (805) 284-3986.

Ye Ole Gang

From its humble beginnings at a backyard barbecue attended by five committed Dons, “Ye Ole Gang” has grown to hundreds of participants annually. The vision and purpose of founder Sal Padilla was to establish and perpetuate “Ye Ole Gang” in the spirit of camaraderie, good will, and loving fellowship. Even to the day of his passing in 2004 that spirit drove, and still drives, his beloved “Gang.”

A powerful athletic heritage at the school is the energy that drives YOG. It is fueled by the sensational athletic triumphs of ten decades creating a legacy of great expectations. The “Get-Together” provides a unique opportunity for players, coaches, fans and families to recapture the memories of their youth, rekindle friendships, make new friends, and to honor past and present Dons.

It is our mission to maintain and perpetuate this greatest of all traditions. Sal Padilla said it best: It’s about camaraderie – brothers forever. Those emotions persevere and live in the spirit and hearts of “Ye Ole Gang”.

“Once A Don Always A Don.”
